Psilocybe cubensis | Indian Landrace | MILD Potency Class

Potency: MILD
Scale:
Mild: 0.1–1.1%
High: 1.2–2.0%
Extreme: 2.1–3.0%

Origin & Genetic Lineage
The Orissa India strain of Psilocybe cubensis hails from the tropical grasslands of eastern India, specifically the region formerly known as Orissa (now Odisha). This wild landrace was collected by ethnomycologist John Allen (aka Mushroom John) during his travels throughout South Asia, where he sourced several legendary cubensis genetics. Known for producing some of the largest fruiting bodies in the cubensis family, this strain has become a classic among growers.

History & Community Spread
Introduced to Western cultivators in the early 2000s, Orissa India gained quick popularity due to its massive size, fast colonization, and consistent flushes. While not known for intense potency, it became a staple among those seeking impressive yields, large display fruits, or beginner-friendly strains.

Appearance & Morphology
Caps are very large, tan to dark brown, and often flatten or wave out at maturity. Stems are thick, fibrous, and white to cream in color. Bruising blue upon handling indicates psilocybin content. Spores are purple-black and elliptical in shape.

Potency & Effects
This is a mild strain, ideal for beginners, low-dose sessions, or ceremonial warmups. Reported effects include gentle mood elevation, light visuals, pattern perception, soft introspection, and low anxiety.

Cultivation Notes
Colonizes quickly and resists contamination well. Performs on BRF cakes, CVG, or manure-based substrates. Fruits best at 75–80°F. Often produces multiple flushes with large yields and oversized mushrooms.

Special Traits
Sourced from wild Indian genetics. Forgiving, stable, and visually impressive — a foundational strain in many cultivators’ collections.
