Lizard King – 10ML Syringe
Psilocybe cubensis | Wild Mexican Lineage | Wood-Loving Anomaly

Potency: MILD
Tanasi Potency Scale:
Mild: 0.1%–1.1%
High: 1.2%–2.0%
Extreme: 2.1%–3.0%

Origin & Genetic Lineage
Lizard King was originally collected and isolated by an early 2000s mycology enthusiast known as “The Lizard King.” The original specimen was found growing wild in Mexico, though the exact coordinates of the collection site remain undocumented. What makes this variety so special is its unusual natural substrate—Lizard King was reportedly found fruiting on decomposing wood. This is a rare and notable trait, as most Psilocybe cubensis strains are typically dung- or grassland-loving fungi.

History & Community Spread
Following its collection, the Lizard King strain was selectively bred for consistent performance, visual appeal, and ease of cultivation. Its wild roots and aesthetic features earned it a loyal following on early spore forums and underground mycology message boards. Over time, it became a popular choice for growers looking for something with a rich backstory and a unique cultivation profile. Its reliability and balanced effects make it a frequent recommendation for beginners, educators, and collectors alike.

Appearance & Morphology
Lizard King produces medium to large fruiting bodies with hemispherical caps when young that gradually flatten as they mature. Cap coloration ranges from golden to reddish-brown, often developing wavy or rippled edges at full maturity. The stems are thick, white to tan, and exhibit strong blue bruising when handled, a hallmark of active psilocybin content. Spore prints are dark purple-brown, consistent with standard cubensis.

Potency & Effects
On the Tanasi Potency Scale, Lizard King falls into the MILD category, though some flushes may lean higher depending on environmental conditions and substrate inputs. Effects are balanced, with a profile that supports both light recreational use and introspective or creative focus. Reported effects include mild visual enhancement, uplifted mood, increased energy, and gentle introspective clarity without overwhelming emotional intensity. It is suitable for beginners, casual explorers, and functional microdosing protocols.

Cultivation Notes
Lizard King colonizes rapidly and responds well to a variety of substrates including BRF cakes, CVG, and manure-based blends. Its wild origin as a wood-loving strain makes it unusually tolerant of lignin-rich substrates. It performs well in standard monotub and shotgun fruiting chamber setups and is resistant to contamination when proper sterile technique is followed. With a reputation for producing dense, uniform flushes, it’s an ideal choice for consistent yields and educational displays.

Special Traits
Lizard King is one of the only known cubensis strains to originate from decomposing wood in the wild. This makes it not only a genetic curiosity but also a valuable collector’s strain. Its unique morphology, wild roots, and stable fruiting behavior make it a versatile and rewarding variety to grow.
